The humanitarian impulse to foster brotherhood and justice is not just a utopian ideal; it is an issue critical to our national and community security. - from The Peace Alliance website
A U.S. Department of Peace, once established, will provide schools, police departments, local governments, existing organizations and others with resources, tools, research, and funding for effective, proven peacebuilding programs that help reduce violence or ameliorate its effects.
Throughout the Inland Empire, there are countless peacebuilders and peacebuilding projects. Often, with limited resources -- staff/volunteers, time, money -- these people and organizations give to our community tremendously, helping to highlight and mitigate injustices, actively seeking to build a safer community, fostering connection and understanding between different groups, and more.
This website and network is a local grassroots project to build the infrastructure for when a U.S. Department of Peace is created. We hope to help these members and groups connect with each other and to the community at large, inspiring participation, support, and assistance in creating a more peaceful, just, sustainable community.
The main purposes of this site are collaboration, community and connection. Each group operates independently and therefore acknowledges responsibility for the content of its postings, events, and members.
